This site is a tribute to Tim. He is a much loved father, brother and friend and will always be remembered.
Tim was born at Guy's Hospital in London in 1956 and spent his early years living in Wimbledon, St Margaret's Bay and then Tunbridge Wells with his parents Bill & Mary and siblings Susy, Andrew & Catherine. After leaving Tonbridge School he rejected a place to study medicine at Guy's and instead followed his passion for flying and joined the last British Airways training squad at Hamble. On completing he joined British Caledonian and became the youngest Captain in the airline.
Tim then flew for British Airways, moving to the Highlands & Islands routes in Scotland, flying over mountains, lochs, beaches and seas. Tim married Sarah in 1990 and moved to Glasgow where they welcomed two children, Alex (1991) and Emma (1992). Tim returned to Tunbridge Wells with his family after moving into long-haul routes out of London.
In 1999 Tim was diagnosed with Myeloma and had a successful bone marrow transplant from his brother Andrew. He received excellent care and ongoing treatments for a further 23 years and was able to enjoy a return to flying in this time, piloting chartered private jets around Europe with Netjets.
Tim died peacefully with his family around him in Guy's Hospital London. He was given exemplary care at every stage of his treatment. He was a strong supporter of the Myeloma Foundation and contributed to the local myeloma support group, drawing on his experience to help others.
He will be sorely missed.
